Waddington, Heidelberg, and Darwin's Dilemma

This is my first blog post. I don't believe anyone is reading this and so its not entirely clear to me why I am writing this. That being said, I think we live in a time when writing papers, analyzing data, and building models is becoming trivial. So what must we as scientists do? I do not know the answer to this but I have some thoughts. Perhaps the most salient one being -- We must try to develop, and communicate, our scientific tastes. I don't even know what scientific taste really is but I suppose for the present moment I simply mean putting out there my view of a certain question or mystery. This first one is my longstanding infatuation with the evolution of organismal development. The goal of this document was to try and present my taste and view of the central questions, and attempt to identify a research program that might tackle it. If someone is reading this and finds it interesting then I would love to hear from you! In light of the enormous change in scientific practices that we are all facing I believe human engagement is central.
